an ideal environment for beneficial bacteria
and microorganisms, you can speed up
the process, thereby reducing the volume
of waste and turning it into a valuable end
product — compost.
As manure and stall waste break down,
the microorganisms generate tremendous
amounts of heat. This heat can destroy
weed seeds, fly larvae, worm eggs, and
other disease-causing pathogens. Finished
compost is a crumbly, earthy-smelling, dark
material which happens to be a marvelous
soil amendment for gardens, landscapes,
and pastures.
