In response to a growing demand for support of electrical,
lighting and datacomm products for government organizations,
Schaedler Yesco (SYD) offers a team of specialists designated
to providing customer service specifically tailored to local, state,
and federal governments. As government agencies have developed
new systems and contracts to manage their MRO, Electrical, and
IT spend, Schaedler Yesco has promptly responded by adding the
necessary resources to support such programs.
The response has been remarkable as the
number of awarded contracts continue to grow.

Contracts for the Commonwealth
Lighting became an early area of focus as Schaedler Yesco was granted state contracts
for lighting fixtures, ballasts, and Sylvania lamps. To compliment the lighting contract,
“recycling services” for lamps, ballasts, and batteries throughout the Commonwealth was
added.
In July 2008, in partnership with the Department of General Services (DGS), Schaedler
Yesco implemented a conversion process to assist State Agencies in their transition
to energy efficient lamps. This program was initiated by DGS and mandated by
Governor Ed Rendell to facilitate the reduction of energy consumption throughout the
Commonwealth. In an effort to assist in this conversion process, SYD and Sylvania have:
• Reviewed past contract spend at State Agencies
• Evaluated installed systems
• Provided a recommended lamp list to DGS
• Reduced the Core list lamp prices based on volume purchases
• Created a cross reference sheet to simplify conversions

COSTARS for Local Public Procurement Units
The COSTARS program is a cooperative purchasing program that allows local entities,
including but not limited to, any political subdivision, public authority, tax exempt,
non-profit education, or public health institution to obtain more competitive pricing
and product variety than individual purchasers may be able to achieve on their own.
